Playa Grande

Playa Grande, just a 15min drive from us, boasts one of Costa Rica’s most reliable surf breaks, ideal for surfers of all levels. Beginners can safely practice in the gentle white water, while a short walk down the beach leads advanced surfers to one of the country’s premier waves.

Witch's Rock

The powerful surf breaks and swells at Naranjo Beach can create spectacular conditions year-round, even in the off-season. However, surfing on this remote beach requires careful preparation. Surrounded by tropical dry forests, mangroves, and wildlife, Naranjo Beach is isolated and rugged. Pack your hiking shoes, board, snacks, and plenty of water—it's worth the adventure. Witches Rock (Roca Bruja), a massive boulder rising from the ocean, dominates the landscape.

Playa Tamarindo

This exposed beach break consistently delivers surf, with the best conditions occurring when offshore winds blow from the east. The waves are primarily generated by groundswells, with the ideal swell direction coming from the west-northwest. The beach break offers a mix of both lefts and rights, but it tends to get crowded.

Playa Avellanas

Avellanas offers five key surf spots: Purruja, Estero, Palo Seco, Little Hawaii, and Parqueo. Parqueo and Palo Seco are ideal for longboarding and suit advanced beginners and intermediate surfers. Purruja has a seasonal break, while Little Hawaii, located at the far end of the beach, is where the pros tackle challenging waves.

Playa Negra

Playa Negra's take-off zone is tightly concentrated, making the lineup crowded with just a couple dozen surfers. This spot gained fame in the surfing community after being featured in the cult classic "Endless Summer II."

Known for its consistent surf year-round, Playa Negra attracts professional surfers. Most head out during high tide, as low tide reveals rocks beneath the water. Only the most daring surfers tackle the fast, perfect tubes at low tide.

Marbella

When you arrive at Playa Marbella, it feels like a hidden tropical paradise. Unlike the crowded beaches of Nosara or Tamarindo, here you’ll find tranquility—just the sound of waves, birds overhead, and the scent of fresh ocean air. The light gray sand and crystal-clear water invite you to relax, while campers and beachgoers often enjoy barbecues as the sun sets.
